High quality products with an unmistakable genuine taste.
The Tenuta Dibelgrado farm was founded near the banks of the Tagliamento river and along the Varmo river: a meeting point between the High and Low plains of Friuli. The company, whose location is made favorable by the proximity of the Tagliamento river and the springs, can count on a land rich in nutrients guaranteeing the cultivation of excellent products with a unique taste in the almost exclusively family-run twenty hectares of Tenuta Dibelgrado.
Azienda Agricola Tenuta Dibelgrado is a young company born from the desire of owner Serena Governo to carry on what her great-grandfather, grandfather and parents Ermes and Francesca did with so much love and dedication, thereby enhancing the Friulian crops. Located in Belgrado di Varmo, a quiet country village in the province of Udine, Serena’s company has a decades-long tradition in the cultivation of white and green asparagus. In recent years, a good part of the company’s land has also been dedicated to the production of vegetables and the planting of orchards, so to always have fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables available for producing preserves and jams.
Asparagus is a vegetable with a delicate and refined flavor, which announces the return of spring, the season in which it develops its shoot: the edible part of the plant. In early spring the asparagus buds awaken and begin to stretch upwards until they emerge from the ground; it is at this stage that the shoots are harvested and consumed. Cultivation techniques implying different kinds of light exposure give birth to green, white or pink-purple asparagus. The land owned by Tenuta Dibelgrado is characterised by soils which are ideal for the cultivation of asparagus, as they are sandy without pebbles; and their conformation is the result of past and recent floods of the Tagliamento river. Serena cultivates and processes her own radicchio varieties and turns them into ‘Belgrado roses’: radicchio heads with clear resemblance to open roses in shape and color. They are sold both fresh and processed (preserved in oil).
