Organic apples and products with an authentic flavor.
Azienda Agricola Biologica Loner (organic farm) gave birth to the Mela Bio project, producing and selling apples via retail and wholesale channels. The company produces apples of the Gala, Pinova, Golden, Braeburn, Fuji and Gold Rush varieties, which are partly processed into apple juice, cider, vinegar and apple jams.
The Loner farm laid its foundations in 1907 when the first apple trees were planted, with planting layouts typical of the time. While waiting for the trees to produce their apples, the company began growing vegetables of various types which were then largely sold in Piazza delle Erbe in Bolzano. In 1963 the Loner brothers caught the opportunity to buy part of the agricultural company owned by Count Ottelio in Ariis di Rivignano; here an orchard was created from scratch. Over the years and with the evolution of fruit farming, organic production was embraced in the early 2000s. Today the organic farm certified by ICEA covers an area of about 17 hectares, of which 15 are planted with apple trees. The company produces apples of the Gala, Pinova, Golden, Braeburn, Fuji and Gold Rush varieties, which are partly processed into apple juice, cider, vinegar and apple jams: organic products with an authentic and natural taste.
GALA apples have a color ranging from light red to dark red, they are of medium-small size, ripe in summer and present a firm, crunchy and particularly sweet pulp. GOLDEN DELICIOUS apples range from yellow-green to golden yellow. They have a delicate aroma and their pulp is firm, aromatic, sweet, juicy and characterized by a delicate acidity. BRAEBURN are medium-sized autumn apples with a red-green streaked skin, and firm and crunchy pulp. These apples are juicy and have a pleasant sweet-sour balance. FUJI is an apple that is easily recognizable thanks to its asymmetrical shape. It is particularly appreciated as a dessert apple for its sweet, firm, aromatic and juicy pulp. GOLD RUSCH is a late ripening apple suitable for long storage. It has excellent organoleptic characteristics determined by crunchiness, juiciness and a high balance between acidity and sweetness. PINOVA is a brand new apple of German origin, of medium size and conic shape, which can be yellow or green colored with large fiery red streaks. The pulp is compact, juicy and crunchy with a sweetish-sour taste.
