A place of history and charm
The Flambruzzo Castle is located in the municipality of Rivignano Teor. Its first historical traces date back to 1258. The castle overlooks the banks of the Stella River and was part of the Water Castles that oversaw trade on the river. The Castle is a perfect location for a wedding.
The lively current that animates the flow of the waters of the Stella river – Anaxum for the Latins – tells the story of an ancient medieval fortress surrounded by a moat to defend the feudal lords, whose access was protected by a drawbridge.
Probably built on the remains of an ancient Roman castle – fortified camps placed on the river channels for commercial purposes – it still holds, underground and in the depths of the waters that lap it, mysteries that have not been explained. Two Roman ships found in the river bed reveal ancient exchanges with the people of the area.
Today the fortress has given way to a noble villa which joins the original thirteenth century tower which continues with the walls rebuilt on the primitive foundations and with the imposing entrance arch overlooking the stone bridge, which has replaced the drawbridge
The imposing terrace, which extends to the back and runs the entire length of the structure, overlooks the majestic English park: three hectares of lush nature crossed by canals and dotted with islets joined by exquisite wooden bridges.
Among the “inhabitants” of the park, the characteristic fauna of the resurgence environment stands out – from the infinite variety of birds, to the fish that populate the waters, to the squirrels and others. mammals – which contributes to making this oasis of paradise alive and whispering.
A play of lights slowly transforms the park following the movement of the sun, changing its image and revealing new and continuous secrets: in the bends of the river, in the tangles artfully constructed by the lush vegetation, in the caves among the branches in the shade of hills that hide meanings still jealously silenced and stubbornly escaped the outrage of time, which creeps in relentlessly, disrespectful of history.
